We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Telephone Advice - Nurse Call Services who will be responsible for the interactive process that occurs over the telephone with the patient that identifies the nature and urgency of the patient's health care needs and then determines appropriate disposition. The nurse may schedule an appointment as the patient's condition requires, answer questions, and provide health education in relation to the call. Accurately documents the encounter with the patient for continuity of care. Care is based on the nursing process, evidence-based guidelines and is consistent with Oregon and Washington's Nurse Practice Act. Requires a broad range of general nursing knowledge and expertise. Requires proficiency using Microsoft Office products and multiple computer applications. The ProvRN Registered Nurse collaborates with all members of the healthcare team. Accountable for personal behavior and ongoing professional behavior and development.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Understand and follows department policies and procedures
Support standardization process
Establish and promote positive working relationships within the department and with leadership
Display ability to work in an ever-changing environment and participate constructively in change processes
Exhibit and employ strong problem solving and decision making skills
Consistently use clinical judgment and takes actions appropriate to the patients situation
Tailor caring processes to the individuality and uniqueness of each patient
Engage in effective and caring professional communication and behaviors with colleagues, co-workers, and interdisciplinary teams
Teach and coach patients and their families as well as other healthcare members
Accountability for safe practice, identifying and correcting problems, participating in quality improvement activities and employing evidence-based practice
Remain current with required credentialing (e.g. licensure), department-based education, performance verification activities, and clinical/ informatics competencies
Utilize solid judgment and adheres to all policies ensuring the protection of confidential information related to patient information according to internal and HIPAA regulations
Attend and participates in staff meetings and other meetings as assigned
Be accountable for personal behavior and ongoing professional behavior and development
Utilize the nursing process, motivational interviewing, active listening, critical thinking and clinical knowledge to identify the patients health risks
Develop appropriate plan of care and engages the patient in implementing the plan to promote optimal health and independence
Utilize approved decision support guidelines appropriately
Communicate effectively using a variety of formats, tools and technologies to build professional relationships and to deliver care
Document all aspects of the patient encounter
Prioritize individual workload to meet deadlines, fluctuations in call volumes, and rapidly changing priorities
Actively participate in Interdepartmental Committees
Demonstrate skill in patient teaching and health prevention education
Knowledgeable of resources and programs within Providence as well as within the community
Utilize the computer in an efficient and effective manner
Participate in continuing education related to software, database and file maintenance
Provide leadership and care coordination for the multidisciplinary team
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license
Current unencumbered Washington RN license or must obtain within six (6) months of hire
Must obtain other required nursing state licensures within six (6) months
Two (2) years of RN nursing experience
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Ambulatory Nursing Certification
Five (5) years of nursing experience as an RN
Telephone triage experience
Progressive leadership experience
